The  “Silent  Epidemic”

Prescription drug abuse is a significant problem in the United States, and has been coined the “Silent Epidemic”.

Florida Recovery Month 2009 is developing a continuing medical education (CME) activity focusing on this implicit issue.

  • Understanding andrecognizing addiction as a disease;
  • An awareness of the this silent epidemic and its connection with pain and dependency;
  • Understanding pain management and prescribing pain medicine;
  • Understanding risk management involved with pain management;
  • Understanding comorbities of drug addiction, and pain management patients.
